The above pictures represent months long planning and preparation. Out of six distributing events, we gave out over 200 turkeys with side dishes feeding @1200 people. That makes all the work worth it! (To maintain the privacy of my SG kids and their families, all pictures are of the volunteers only!) None of this would have been possible without the generosity of Cypress Church, who provided the turkeys and accompanying food boxes. Special thanks to Ashley at Cypress!
Sufficient Grace Inc., a registered 501c3 (Federal Tax ID 46-1114203), was a fleeting idea in late 2011 and finally making its humble debut in January 2012. Dedicated volunteers meet every week to assemble food boxes that are then transported to each of our six school districts in Madison, Union, and Clark Counties. Many children eat school breakfast and lunches. For some, it is not a guarantee that they will have something to eat for dinner. That’s where we come in. Providing evening meals the kids take home with them at the end of their school day. Our mission is that no child experience hunger after school.
Each school year over 7000 volunteer hours and support are needed to make sure the program runs smoothly. This not only includes weekly boxing and distribution but also, assembling Christmas bags and hygiene kits.
No child is ever turned away. It is important to us that we support all the children in the household and therefore we provide extra bags for students to take home to a younger sibling who isn’t of school age yet.
It is our goal to remove the barriers being food insecure can bring, so children are better able to focus on school and have every opportunity to succeed. This in turn helps our communities.
